“Come 2027, I will be an MP. I will be an MP for either Embakasi East, Murang’a or back in my rural home.”
This statement from Gaucho comes amidst efforts geared towards early positioning by many politicians within the country, who wish to build visibility prior to the ballot.
Moreover, he also mentioned conversations that he had with the late ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
“Raila Odinga wanted me to be an MP in 2027 and there were some things we talked about which I can’t say because there might be people after my blood, but when I become an MP I’ll make public.”

In Gaucho’s comments, he is placed right at the center of the succession fight in Embakasi East, a region that is now ruled by Babu Owino since 2017 and recently re-elected in 2022.
The politician in question is also planning to ascend to bigger political position which is the gubernatorial seat in Nairobi, with 2027 on his mind.

Calvince Okoth, commonly referred to as Gaucho, has become a prominent name lately after being named as one of the members of the board of Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Nairobi County.
The naming, which was done during the tenure of Governor Johnson Sakaja, took place in April 2026 and was met by controversy on grounds of merit and qualifications.
According to reports, Gaucho is among others who have been named board members for a period of three years.
Controversial appointment with both positive and negative reactions on whether he can fill the position.
Addressing those opposing his appointment, Gaucho said, “To my critics, let us give it some time.”
