Infotrak Research Issues Clarification on Ol Kalou By-Election Polls

Share

Infotrak Research and Consulting has denied producing or circulating opinion poll results purporting to show voter sentiment in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, terming the reports shared on social media as false and misleading.

In a statement on April 20, the research firm claimed that it never undertook or published any opinion survey for the by-election in Ol Kalou.

Infotrak alerted Kenyans against the content of the doctored graphs purporting to show the popularity of some of the aspirants.

“We would like to clarify that these poll results currently circulating online are fake and did not originate from our organization”,  Infotrak said.

Infotrak Disputes the Circulated Polls

Infotrak also advised people to read the statement and alerted Kenyans to disregard any opinion poll related to the Ol Kalou MP race, as the research firm had not carried out any survey bearing its name.

The circulated material, which has since gone viral on all social media platforms, shows Infotrak’s branding style on graphics displaying vote percentages and projected results for some aspirants, but the firm has been quick to dispute them.

Recent weeks allegedly saw the survey establish voter sentiment and analyze the campaign effectiveness of various candidates in the race.

Ol Kalou by-election and political heat in Nyandarua County

The company has urged Kenyans to ensure the authenticity of data before posting it on their social media pages or believing anything posted without authentication.

This denial comes as political heat in Nyandarua County is set to reach a fever pitch with the forthcoming Ol Kalou by-election that has attracted some candidates interested in taking over the mantle from the former area MP.

Analysts warned that fake polls will have a detrimental impact on the trust and credibility of official opinion survey companies.

They also warned against using such methods to misinform voters or undermine legitimate democratic processes.

Infotrak insisted that it adheres to professional ethics in research and would not tolerate misuse of its brand.
