A viral video of comedian Mammito Eunice mimicking Prophet Dr. David Owuor, founder of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry, has sparked a debate on social media.
Mammito Eunice imitates Prophet Owuor in a video that goes viral on social media, with some users finding it humorous while others condemn it as disrespectful to God.
Facebook user Irene Kendi Abuta commented on Mammito Eunice’s comedy skit on social media, saying it satirises a clergyman and urging the public to respect religious leaders.
“Spirits are more retaliatory than men, why, there are codes and principles that guard the realms.Hawa hawajui jokes, comedy and many other shenanigans. If I were you, I would draw the line between mimicry o on men of God,and other creative ideas.I am speaking as a Zion defender, and not as anyone’s spokeswoman or follower,” Kendi said.
She felt “deeply convicted by the Holy Spirit to speak out”, warned against ridicule over spiritual things, and called for temperance.
Irene Kendi Abuta insisted that people must take the divine in reverence.
She advised her followers to pray for the comedian instead of attacking her, describing her as an entertainer who had influence.
Within hours, her post had drawn hundreds of replies and comments, going viral on the internet.
Many countered her, disagreeing with her, criticizing the video.
Her comments led to wider discussions, involving religious beliefs, satire, free expression on social media, amongst others.
