The National Police Service has announced traffic disruption along the Nakuru–Eldoret Highway after a self-involved accident involving a lorry at the Sachangwan area on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at around 1:40 pm.
The incident left the vehicle blocking both lanes of the busy highway and halted movement along the key transport corridor.
The National Police Service (NPS) said the obstruction forced officers to introduce temporary diversion routes to ease congestion and restore traffic flow.
Motorists travelling along the Kericho–Kisumu route are now being directed to use the Njoro–Molo–Nakuru Road. In addition, those heading from Nakuru towards Eldoret divert through the Nakuru–Eldama Ravine–Eldoret Road. These routes help reduce pressure on the affected section as recovery work continues
As a result, traffic has built up on both the main highway and surrounding roads. Long queues have formed as motorists adjust to the diversions. Meanwhile, officers continue to manage the flow to prevent further delays.

Police officers and emergency teams remain at the scene. They are working to remove the loaded lorry and clear the highway. At the same time, they prioritize safety to avoid further disruptions.
The National Police Service urged motorists to follow instructions from officers on the ground.
“Motorists are asked to observe lane discipline and follow the instructions given by the police as this situation is addressed,” NPS stated.

“The National Police Service remains committed to providing up-to-date information in the service of the public,” NPS has also assured the public of regular updates.
Finally, authorities advised drivers to avoid unauthorized routes and follow the official diversions. They warned that non-compliance could worsen congestion and increase risks. Normal traffic is expected to resume once clearance operations are completed.
