3 Missing Indians Rescued as 6 Arrested Over Suspected Human Trafficking

Six suspects have been arrested, and three Indian nationals who were reported missing have been found by detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU).

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the three Indian nationals who were rescued were reported missing after arriving in Kenya on August 5, 2026.

This rescue followed an investigation by the detectives into a suspected human trafficking case involving the suspects who were arrested and are currently in custody.

Detectives say that the three arrested suspects were found in a two-bedroom house in Ruiru’s Fort Jesus area in Kiambu County.

Suspected Human Trafficking Case

This is after they received intelligence for the investigations into a suspected human trafficking case; that is when they followed the lead.

On the other hand, preliminary investigations established that the Indian nationals were cleared at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and they left for Ruiru.

This was allegedly arranged by their receiver, who was waiting for them to arrive in Ruiru before they were taken by the arrested suspects.

Meanwhile, the three Indian nationals were taken to a house in Ruiru and were allegedly held incommunicado and against their will.

Suspects In Custody

The DCI says those arrested are Avtar Singh, who is an Indian national, and two Pakistani nationals, Ali Khashif and Syed Shujaat.

Kenyans who were arrested are Stephen Karomo and Damaris Katulu Daudi, together with a Kenyan minor who was found at the house by detectives, allegedly working as a house help.

During interrogations conducted by detectives, the suspects claimed that they were helping the three Indian nationals to travel to Italy through Ethiopia.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing in order to establish the activities of the suspects who have been arrested and to be able to determine if there are any other suspects at large.

While the suspects are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court, the detectives also want to determine any possible links to a human trafficking network.
