The first contingent of the National Police Service (NPS) has returned home from Haiti, 18 months after being entrusted with the Kenyan flag for a critical mission, marking the successful completion of their challenging peacekeeping tour.
The officers served with distinction under the Multi-National Security Support Mission in Haiti, now known as the Gang Suppression Force.
According to the report by the NPS on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, their historic homecoming ceremony highlighted Kenya’s commitment to global security, marking the successful completion of a mission and proven capacity to excel in international peacekeeping operations with professionalism and integrity.
“Today, their return marks a mission accomplished, demonstrating Kenya’s resolute stance in answering the call for peace wherever it is needed most,” an NPS statement read.

The contingent’s service in Haiti yielded significant results, including enhanced stability, the restoration of freedom of movement, and the reopening of key road networks.
“Key achievements of the mission include enhanced stability in Haiti, restored freedom of movement, the reopening of key road networks, and significant progress in training the Haitian Police. The Kenyan officers maintained exemplary discipline, upholding strict human rights standards,” NPS statement highlighted.
National Security Advisor Amb. Dr. Monica Juma lauded the returning contingent, calling their success “a promise kept.”
“This contingent is a promise kept,” Amb. Dr. Juma stated, referencing the commitment made during the pre-deployment briefing on June 24, 2024. “You have represented Kenya internationally with great distinction, and we are incredibly proud of your service.”

Mr. Eliud Lagat, Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS), noted the lasting impact of the experience on the domestic force.
“Your integrity, honour, and professionalism in a high-stakes environment are a testament to the quality of our force,” said DIG-KPS Mr. Lagat. “The experience gained will further strengthen policing standards and operational excellence within Kenya.”
