The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has listed several regions expected to receive rainfall in the last week leading up to Christmas, even as most parts of the country remain largely sunny and dry.

According to the latest seven-day weather forecast, the rains will be scattered and confined to specific regions, while temperatures are projected to remain high in several areas.

In its weekly forecast covering December 9 to 15, 2025, Kenya Met said that “most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry,” but added that “occasional rainfall is expected in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast, North-eastern and the South-eastern lowlands.”

The department noted that the rainfall outlook mirrors the prevailing December weather patterns, which typically mark a transition period following the short rains season.

As Kenyans prepare for Christmas travel and festivities, the advisory highlights areas where wet conditions could disrupt transport, agriculture, and outdoor plans.

Temperatures are also expected to vary significantly, with daytime highs of above 30°C forecast in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
