UDA Sets Nomination Dates Ahead of 2026 By-Elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has issued its nomination notice to its members.

In a public notice released on December 23rd, 2025, UDA declared vacancies for various seats across the country ahead of by-elections.

The Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Erustus Ethekon, announced that by-elections will be held on February 26, 2026.

According to the UDA, the registration period will commence on 23rd December 2025 and close on 31st December 2025 at 5.00 p.m.

Number of Vacancies

The ruling party declared the following vacancies, which include:

a) Member of the National Assembly for Isiolo South Constituency;

b) Members of the County Assembly for:

i. Muminji Ward, Mbeere North Constituency.

ii. Evurore Ward, Mbeere North Constituency.

iii. West Kabras Ward, Malava Constituency.

UDA Announces When the Nominations Will Happen

UDA has confirmed that all nominations will be held on January 10th, 2026, as the party looks forward to fielding its candidates in declared vacancies ahead of by-elections.

Additionally, all interested candidates are required to apply for nominations through the UDA party portal.

“NOTICE is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Nominations shall be held on Saturday, 10 January 2026. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal accessible at www.uda.ke,” read part notice.

Nomination Fees

Candidates interested in applying for Member of County Assembly (MCA) will pay Ksh 50,000 for a man, Ksh 25,000 for a woman, Ksh 25,000 for a youth and people with disabilities will also pay Ksh 25,000.

At the same time, Members of the National Assembly (MP) will pay Ksh 250,000 for a man and for a woman, youth and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh 125,000 each.

All candidates should know that money is non-refundable.
