National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed has held a meeting with ODM party leader Oburu Odinga amid a public spat with the party’s Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, over allegations of his involvement in embezzling Azimio agents’ funds, which reportedly contributed to the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s loss in the 2022 general elections.
In a statement dated Thursday, January 8, 2026, the ODM party shared images of the party leader with the Suna East legislator, confirming that the meeting was held in the morning.
The meeting comes a day after the party leader held a similar meeting with Sifuna, where they deliberated on matters centred on the party’s unity and growth.
According to the party statement, discussions during the meeting focused on matters related to the party, its growth, and other political issues.
“Minority Leader in the National Assembly , Junet Mohamed, this morning called on the Party Leader Oburu Oginga at his office in Nairobi. They deliberated on matters relating to the party, its growth, as well as the state of politics in the country,” the statement read.

The dispute between Sifuna and Junet arose when the ODM Secretary General accused the latter of failing to pay agents who represented Raila Odinga at polling stations, which allegedly contributed to his loss in the 2022 general elections.
On the other hand, the Suna East legislator denied the allegations, calling them “false and misleading,” and insisted that he never handled the recruitment or payment of agents. He claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta released the funds directly to his brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, who then appointed an aide to manage the disbursements.
Junet further alleged that these operations were conducted from a “highly restricted” office in Westlands that was so secretive that even the presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, could not freely access it.

He described the failure to hire agents in key regions, such as Mt. Kenya and Luo Nyanza, as a “long con game” by those in charge of the funds, which ultimately cost the coalition the election.
Despite the differences between the two leaders, Sifuna, speaking at the posthumous birthday celebration of Raila Odinga on January 7, said he is willing to set aside his differences with some ODM leaders with whom he has been exchanging words.
