A family in Kawangware, Nairobi, is demanding justice after a routine dental procedure allegedly went wrong, leaving their loved one battling a life-threatening infection.
Amos Isoka is currently admitted to Wema Hospital after complications arising from a tooth extraction that has robbed him of his ability to speak, swallow, or breathe properly.
According to the family, Isoka visited a local clinic in early December 2025 for a simple dental procedure, but his condition deteriorated shortly afterward, forcing his admission to another hospital.
“I am in Constant pain,” Speaking from his hospital bed, Isoka painfully described his ordeal.
“I am feeling pain,” he said while pointing to his throat. “I can’t even breathe well. I struggle talking and I can’t swallow anything since the 1st of December.”

Doctors at Wema Hospital suspect that unsterilised equipment may have been used during the procedure, resulting in a severe infection.
Isoka’s wife, speaking to the media at the hospital, expressed deep concern over her husband’s suffering.
“My husband is hurting. Every time you go closer to him, he is signalling his throat to show he’s in pain,” she said.
As Isoka fights for his life, the family is also grappling with rising medical bills and unanswered questions about how a routine dental visit turned into a near-fatal experience.
A journalist later visited the clinic where the extraction was performed and confronted the man who claimed to be a dentist.
When questioned about his qualifications, he admitted he was not registered with the relevant dentistry authorities.
“I extracted the tooth because I know how, even though I didn’t have the required equipment,” he said.
“The mistake I made was not registering with the dentistry department.”

Isoka further claimed that after complications arose, the practitioner referred him to Mbagathi Hospital without explanation.
“I asked him why, yet he was the one who treated me, and he told me that it was not my business,” Isoka said.
Despite the severity of the case, the suspected unqualified practitioner is reportedly still operating freely.
The incident has raised serious concerns about regulatory failures and the presence of unlicensed clinics.
The family is now calling on health authorities and regulators to act swiftly.
The case raises troubling questions: Who failed in their duty of oversight, and how many more unqualified practitioners are putting lives at risk? For Isoka’s family, justice delayed could mean more lives endangered unless decisive action is taken.
