The Nanyuki Municipal Board has officially banned all motor vehicles and motorcycles (BodaBodas) featuring modified exhausts and unauthorized lighting systems within its boundaries.
In a public notice dated January 5, 2026, Municipal Manager Anthony Rukwaro cited growing concerns over noise pollution and road safety as the primary drivers for the directive.
Key Prohibitions
The directive targets two specific categories of vehicle modifications:
Noise Pollution: A total ban on vehicles and motorcycles with modified exhausts that produce sound exceeding 84 decibels during acceleration.
Illegal Lighting: A ban on the use of unauthorized neon lights, red lights, strobe lights, or any other modified illuminating lights.
