Police Nab Highway Robbers With Military Boots, Computers, and Drugs

Detectives from Rabai Sub-County have arrested three suspects connected to a notorious highway robbery gang that has been terrorising truck drivers along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

In a statement, the DCI said that, thanks to a timely tip from alert members of the public, detectives launched a targeted operation in the Mabirikani area.

The operation culminated in the arrest of Juma Ali, Hamisi Juma, and Benedict Chirodo, who are believed to be part of a larger criminal group known for terrorizing truck drivers near Bonje area of Mazeras Township.

Military Boots and Bhang Found

Upon their arrest, investigators recovered several items, including currency from different countries, two pairs of military boots, fourteen rolls of bhang, and thirty-two pieces of mug glass.

They also recovered mobile phone chargers, two bales of carrier bags, and an HCL computer keyboard.

“This haul is linked to multiple cases filed at Mazeras police station, showcasing the gang’s broad criminal activities,” DCI said.

The suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing before their court appearance.

The recovered items have since been secured as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.

Police Arrest Fuel Thieves

This comes after Kenya Railways and Port Police arrested three individuals implicated in the illegal act of siphoning fuel from train wagons at the Sultan Hamud Railways Station.

The culprits, locomotive driver Nicodemus Keya, security guard Mutunga Mwanzia, and Geoffrey Irungu were caught red-handed after vigilant publics tipped off authorities about their illicit operation.

Police officers stormed the scene and seized two 20-litre jerrycans and two 18-litre water dispenser bottles filled to the brim with stolen petrol.

The three individuals were promptly escorted to Emali Railways Police Station, where they are undergoing processing pending arraignment.
