The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Director General, Dr. Mamo B Mamo yesterday has issued a notice reminding clients who applied for the Licences, permits, approvals or even the registration certificates to contact offices where they made the submissions to ensure all issues are finalized and addressed before a Record of Decision on September 30, 2025.
In a statement on September 16, Mamo said the decision is in line with the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) CAP 387.
He therefore urged them to act quick before the system closes.
“The Authority therefore, wishes to inform all clients with pending applications which were submitted prior to 1st August 2025 to contact respective NEMA offices where submissions were done to ensure all the pending technical review issues are addressed to pave way for a Record of Decision before 30th September 2025.
Failure to comply with the above the Authority will proceed to make the Record of Decision based on the submitted documents and all available records to bring to closure these applications received at NEMA prior to 1st August 2025. Unsuccessful applicants will therefore be required to make fresh applications in accordance to Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) Cap 387 and subsidiary regulations.”

The notice is meant to keep the system on check and well updated.
It also helps in protecting the environment.Applicants with Pending Applications too will be reviewed with utmost speed.
People Affected/Organizations
1.NGO’s who may want to do community projects will have to seek for approval from NEMA.
2.People interested in infrastructure projects like Roads or Dam will have to be approved as well.
3.Firms who want permit for their works example recycling centres,Garbage Collection.

NEMA is the national Government agency mandated to supervise and coordinate all matters environment and it’s also the principal advisor of government on the implementation of policies relating to Environment.
