The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas expected to experience rainfall as January draws to a close.
In its forecast published on Monday, January 27, 2026, covering the period from January 27 to February 2, 2026, Kenya Met highlighted regions likely to receive rainfall over the next seven days.
According to the weatherman, predominantly sunny and dry conditions are expected across much of the country.
However, isolated light rainfall is likely in a few areas, particularly the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the south-eastern lowlands.
Daytime (maximum) average temperatures of over 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as in parts of the south-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
Night-time (minimum) average temperatures are expected to drop below 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
For the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, Kenya Met predicts sunny intervals in the mornings, with occasional afternoon showers likely in a few places. Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers in some areas.
Counties in this region include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.

For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which include Nairobi and its environs, the weatherman forecasts sunny intervals in the mornings, with occasional afternoon showers likely over a few areas.
Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers in some places.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi.
In the south-eastern lowlands, covering Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta, and the inland parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings, with occasional afternoon showers in a few areas. Nights will be partly cloudy.

For the Coast region, which includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal parts of Tana River County, Kenya Met expects sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, isolated morning showers are likely in a few areas.
In North-eastern Kenya, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
Meanwhile, in North-western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
