How to Apply for KUCCPS Inter-Institution Transfer

Share

As the 2025/2026 academic cycle moves into its next phase, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has clarified the roadmap for students seeking to change their allocated institutions.

For the students who were placed in a course that wasn’t their first choice or had a change of heart regarding preferred campus location, the Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT), KUCCPS opens a window for adjustment in order to ensure all students secure their preferred campuses and courses.

KUCCPS is tasked with placing all KCSE candidates into courses of their choice.

The placement service gives candidates an opportunity to apply for inter-university transfer, which enables those students who were not pleased with the university/college in which they were placed to transfer to the university/college of their choice.

How to apply for Inter-institution transfer

  • Log in to the KUCCPS Student Portal at students.kuccps.net using your KCSE index number and password.

  • Click on “Inter-Institution Transfer” on the dashboard.

  • Select the course and institution you want to transfer to.

  • The system will check eligibility based on your KCSE cluster points and course requirements.

  • Submit the transfer request online.

  • The request is sent electronically to:

    • The receiving institution (to approve), then

    • The releasing institution (to approve).

  • After both institutions approve, KUCCPS reviews and confirms the transfer.

  • Download and print the transfer letter from the portal once approved.

Note: You will only be allowed to proceed if you meet the previous year’s cut-off points and the specific subject requirements for that course.
