Three families in Morako, Nyamira County, are seeking assistance as they claim their loved ones were brutally assaulted at Manga Sengera Police Station.
The victims, all boda boda riders, allegedly suffered severe injuries, including trauma to sensitive parts of their bodies, during their arrest.
The men, George Nyabwari Kebaso, 35, Robert Atambo, 40, and Derrick Okari, 30, were apprehended over claims of unpaid dues to Mogo Company, which had financed their motorcycles.
Families say the arrests and subsequent beatings were excessive and unjustified.
According to relatives, the riders “found themselves in the wrong hands of the police, following bike debts from their employer, who took the bikes on loan from Mogo Company.”
One of the family spokespersons condemned the police handling, saying, “The bike had its owner and the boy couldn’t indulge himself with someone else’s bike. They could have come and asked the owner where the problem is.”
He further described the injuries sustained: “They were hurt, they were hurt, the child was bleeding in the stomach, in the nose, even his manhood was badly injured.”
The spokesperson emphasized the physical and emotional toll, calling on authorities to hold responsible parties accountable.

Adding to the families’ distress, the bikes’ original owner, who had already paid Ksh 157,788 to Mogo Company, is still being asked to pay an additional Ksh 100,000 within two weeks to avoid the repossession and sale of the motorcycles.
In a heartfelt plea, he said, “Ruto, help me! I only sell tomatoes. There’s no other way I get money. The money that I had is what I used to buy food for my kids.”
