Royal Media Services (RMS) has unveiled a sweeping programming that is poised to alter the rhythm of Kenyan radio listening.
In a deliberate disruption of familiar broadcasting routines, the media house has confirmed a wide-ranging reshuffle of its most recognisable radio voices across several of its stations.
The changes, set to take effect on Monday, February 9, will see established presenters moved into unfamiliar time slots, effectively reconfiguring breakfast, drive, and entertainment shows.
The objective is to inject renewed energy into its brands while offering audiences an alternative way to experience voices they already know and trust.
At the heart of the shift is a strategy to challenge the long-standing conventions of radio scheduling.
One of the most notable shake-ups will be felt at Hot 96, where the morning show will take on a new sound.
Nick Odhiambo and Cynthia Mwangi are lined up to replace Jeff Koinange and Patrick Igunza in the early morning slot.
The outgoing duo will not be leaving the station altogether; instead, they will transition to the Drive Show, bringing their signature style to the evening audience.
Radio Citizen is also undergoing a substantial transformation.
The current Drive Show team, Tina Ogal, Abdi Munai and Sulwe’s Kuka Kisondio, will now anchor the flagship breakfast programme, Jambo Kenya.
Meanwhile, Vincent Ateya, Philip Murutu and Melody Sinzore, who previously led the morning show, will shift to the Drive Show.
Further adjustments at Radio Citizen will see Q-Tee, Bensu and DJ Flash step into Mambo Mseto, replacing Mzazi Willy M Tuva. Tuva, alongside Selly Kadot and DJ Ronnix, will, in turn, move to the #WaksTikiTaka show.
The transition places the seasoned Swahili presenter into a setting that blends sheng, football discussions and reggae music, marking a significant departure from his usual format.

The reshuffle extends beyond Nairobi-based stations.
At Mulembe FM, breakfast host Omar Bakuli will move to the Drive Show, while Pamela Kadima, previously on drive time, takes over the morning slot.
Inooro FM will also feel the impact, with breakfast presenters Jeff Kuria and Nyoxx joining Nderitu Waihura on the Drive Show Cua Cua.
Waihura will step aside from his late-night programme as Njuguna and Karwimbo assume control of that segment.

Explaining the rationale behind the bold changes, RMS ICT and Radio Director Fred Afune said, “The shake-up is daring: iconic morning show kings and queens will be trading their dawn alarms for the high-energy ‘drive’ time slots, while supercharged evening hosts will find themselves caffeinated and ready to tackle the breakfast rush.”
He added, “By moving a morning legend to the evening or a late-night storyteller to the mid-morning, we are challenging the presenters to bring their magic to a new audience and giving the fans a side of their favourite stars they’ve never heard before.”
