Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has moved to calm speculation surrounding the future of Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber, assuring fans that the Kenyan attacker remains part of the club’s plans despite recent injury setbacks.
Bajaber’s situation had sparked debate in recent weeks following reports that the Tanzanian giants were growing frustrated with his recurring fitness problems.
The forward suffered another injury last month, only weeks after returning from a four-month layoff that had delayed his much-anticipated debut for the Msimbazi-based side.
Concerns intensified when reports emerged that Simba had opted to register January signing Inno Loemba in Bajaber’s place as he continued his recovery.
The move fueled uncertainty over his long-term future at the club and reportedly alerted several Kenyan clubs monitoring his situation.
Bajaber has managed just two appearances since joining Simba last August.
He announced himself in style on December 4 against Mbeya City, scoring with his first touch after coming on as a late substitute in what was a dream debut.
However, his momentum was halted again on January 18.
Handed his first start for the club, Bajaber lasted only 12 minutes before suffering a muscle injury that forced him off the pitch- a development that frustrated sections of Simba’s fanbase concerned about his durability.

Speaking about the forward’s status, coach Steve Barker offered a positive update and dismissed fears over Bajaber’s standing in the squad.
“Mohammed is a good player, and good players will always be in our plans,” Barker said.
“He is fine. He is training and has been in full training after being out for two to three weeks,” added the South African tactician, who took charge in January.
Barker’s comments are likely to ease tension among supporters who had begun questioning whether Bajaber could overcome his injury troubles and establish himself at the club.

While the coach confirmed the forward is back in full training, it remains unclear when he will be match-fit and ready for competitive action.
Attention will now turn to Simba’s upcoming fixtures against Tanzania Prisons on Sunday and Pamba Jiji next Wednesday, where fans will be watching closely for any sign of Bajaber’s return to the matchday squad.
The timing is also crucial on the international front. Bajaber will be eager to regain sharpness ahead of the March international window, when Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy is expected to name his squad for the next round of friendly matches.
