President William Ruto on Sunday, February 22, pledged financial support to church education initiatives and community activities during the third anniversary celebration of JesusChrist Compassion Ministries (JCM) in Nairobi.
Addressing congregants at the event hosted by Bishop Ben Kiengei, President Ruto outlined a series of pledges that he said were inspired by requests from the church leadership.
“I have three agendas the bishop has asked, let me speak three things,” President Ruto said, emphasizing his commitment to supporting youth education and empowerment.
“I am saying, Bishop, I want to thank you for the work you do for the youth, the orphans, for teaching them,” he continued.
“Thank you very much, you have been the father of those who do not have a father, I will support you,” Ruto added.
In a key announcement, President Ruto committed to an annual contribution of Ksh 3 million to the church, specifically to fund bursaries for youth education.
The funds, he said, will begin disbursement this year and continue annually to support students associated with church programs.
President Ruto’s speech further highlighted his administration’s ongoing initiatives for youth development.
He referenced the Nyota Fund, a program he initiated that has reportedly reached 120,000 youths.
“I have the second and third phase of Nyota,” he said, noting the positive impact of the program and linking it to the church’s influence in the community.
He went on to promise additional resources to strengthen church activities, announcing a Ksh 5 million allocation to support JCM’s work.
“This is for the church to continue,” he stated, affirming his belief that the church serves as a cornerstone “for the people.”

President Ruto also addressed the bishop’s intentions to purchase land and develop the church’s physical structures.
“The third one, the bishop has told me that the church has a plan to uplift this place of worship. So, Bishop, you will give me the account of the church,” he said, agreeing to examine the church’s financial plans and offer additional support.
He ended by encouraging the bishop to see him at State House before Friday, promising a “good cheque so that you continue with the good work.”

Bishop Ben Kiengei, in his earlier remarks during the service, had explained the church’s emphasis on youth empowerment, education, and spiritual development, which the president’s promises later reinforced.
The president’s promises are expected to strengthen the church’s involvement in social services and youth development initiatives, which are in line with the government’s efforts to improve educational access and community development.
