The United States (U.S.) Mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a security alert to American citizens in Dubai and across the UAE.
In a notice on Saturday, February 28, the notice directed staff in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to shelter-in-place and take cover.
The Mission said all Americans in the UAE should follow suit due to the ongoing regional hostilities.
“Due to regional hostilities, the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate in Dubai have instructed staff to shelter-in-place (i.e., take cover). We recommend all Americans in the UAE do the same until further notice,” reads part of the notice.

American citizens have been told to get a secure place within their residence or safe buildings.
The Mission said the citizens should have enough supplies of food, water, medications, and other essential items.
Besides, US citizens have been directed to monitor news updates and be ready to adjust their plans.
“Find a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items. Monitor media for breaking news. Be prepared to adjust your plans,” the Mission said.
Americans have been told to keep their phone charged and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of their status.
They should also enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest updates on security in the UAE.
