South African socialite and reality TV personality Eva Modika has found herself stranded in Dubai following escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.
What was intended to be a celebratory birthday trip combined with professional work commitments has now turned into a “distressing and deeply challenging situation,” she said in an official statement dated February 28 2026.
Modika, who was booked in Dubai as a DJ and reality TV personality, explained that the current geopolitical developments have disrupted events and suspended flights.
“Due to the current circumstances, events have been disrupted, and all flights have been suspended. As a result, I have suffered financial losses amounting to approximately R250 000,” she revealed.
In light of the unfolding crisis, Modika has formally appealed to Cyril Ramaphosa and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) to assist South African citizens affected in the region.
She requested “guidance, support, and possible evacuation measures to ensure our safe return home,” highlighting the urgency of the situation for tourists and professionals caught amid the disruptions.

Modika’s appeal draws attention to the need for timely communication and support from government authorities to safeguard citizens abroad during periods of international conflict.
The incident has sparked conversations on social media, with citizens weighing in on the responsibilities of governments to their nationals abroad.

@Yours Truly
If she could start walking now, she would be home before June 16.

Hau! What kind of help does she need? She wants Ramaphosa to entertain her Bufebe in Dubai. She can use the very same thing that got her to Dubai to get herself out again.
@Annihilator
It’s not easy to evacuate South Africans from Dubai now that it’s been bombed and flights have been suspended. I think Ramaphosa should have warned South Africans in Dubai way before Iran’s strike, or when other countries were warning their citizens to return
