Motorists in Nairobi should expect five-hour traffic disruptions on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The disruptions are due to the Annual Gertrude’s Family Cancer Walk, according to a traffic advisory issued by Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation.

Key roads affected include Southern Bypass, Langata Road, Aerodome Road, Bunyala Road, Hospital Road, Upper Hill Links Road, and Mbagathi Way.

Motorists affected by the road closures on the Southern Bypass, Langata Road, Aerodrome Road, Bunyala Road, Hospital Road, Upper Hill Links Road, and Mbagathi Way can use the following alternative routes based on their destinations:

  • Those traveling from Mombasa Road into the CBD can use Likoni Road or Enterprise Road (near General Motors) to enter the city center. Motorists who normally use the Southern Bypass can reroute via Waiyaki Way. Travelers coming from Ole Sereni can take Uhuru Highway to connect to the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
  • For traffic from Langata Road heading into the CBD, diversions include Raila Odinga Road (formerly Mbagathi Way) or Muhoho Road via the Mbagathi Roundabout. Commuters moving from the CBD toward Thika Road should use Limuru Road or Kiambu Road to bypass the affected areas.
  • Motorists coming from Kikuyu or Gitaru can use the main Nairobi–Nakuru Highway instead of the Southern Bypass. Access to Upper Hill and Hospital Road may be restricted, but drivers can use Ngong Road or Valley Road.
