In the statement dated March 6, 2026, the military claimed that the strikes were carried out on the position of the Ghanaian battalion during the evening hours.

There were concerns about the safety of the peacekeeping forces operating in the area.

The Ghana Armed Forces indicated that the incident forms part of the broader fallout from the ongoing exchanges of fire between the warring parties in southern Lebanon.

“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to inform the general public that as a fallout of the current ongoing IDF and Hezbollah exchanges in Southern Lebanon, the Ghanaian Battalion Headquarters in United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL), Lebanon came under two missile attacks between 1745 and 1752 hours local time today,” the statement read.

Authorities said two soldiers sustained critical injuries while another was left traumatised following the missile strikes.

“Two soldiers are critically injured, while one other has been traumatised. Additionally, the Officers’ Mess facility also got hit and has been burnt down completely,” the statement said.

Military officials added that the injured personnel are currently receiving urgent medical care at a secured underground facility.
