The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced the rollout of a new Instant Fines Traffic Management System, aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability in traffic law enforcement across Kenya.

In a public notice dated March 9, 2026, the authority said the automated system is now operational and will notify motorists of traffic violations through SMS alerts.

NTSA said the system is designed to streamline the process of issuing and settling traffic fines while minimizing human involvement.

“The Instant Fines Traffic Management System is now live. The system will automatically issue traffic violation notifications via SMS to motorists where applicable.”

Fully Automated Traffic Enforcement

According to NTSA, the newly launched system operates without human intervention, ensuring fairness and transparency in traffic enforcement.

Motorists who receive traffic violation notifications will be required to settle their fines within seven days through designated payment channels.

NTSA said payments will be processed through the branch network of KCB Group.

“All fines issued through the system can be paid through the branch network of KCB Group within 7 days.”

Penalties for Late Payment

The authority warned motorists that failing to pay the fine within the stipulated period will attract additional penalties.
