KMTC to Connect Graduates with Canadian Job Opportunities

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, hosted a Canadian delegation exploring a partnership to create employment opportunities for its graduates through the Health Care Assistant programme.

The visit, coordinated through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, marked the delegation’s second engagement with the College as discussions continue, aligning processes to prepare KMTC graduates for the international labour market.

Representing the CEO, Director of Finance, Planning, and Administration, Ms. Lucy Chebungei welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening global collaborations.

She emphasised that KMTC remains a key contributor to the healthcare workforce both locally and globally, following the recent graduation of more than 22,000 students ready to support healthcare systems in Kenya and abroad.

KMTC Reaffirms Commitment to Global Partnerships

“KMTC remains a key contributor to the healthcare workforce both locally and globally, producing competent professionals who serve in diverse health systems across the world,” said Ms. Chebungei.

“Our graduates are well trained and ready to offer their services and strengthen healthcare delivery both locally and internationally,” she said.

Canadian Delegation Evaluates Curriculum

The head of the Canadian delegation, Lara Dyer, explained that the team was assessing whether the Health Care Assistant curriculum offered at KMTC aligns with Canadian standards.

“Our mission is to determine whether the Health Care Assistant curriculum meets Canadian requirements to ensure that graduates transitioning to Canada are well prepared and able to integrate seamlessly into the healthcare system,” Dyer said.

Health Care Assistant Programme Prepares Graduates

The College is currently rolling out a one-year Health Care Assistant course designed to prepare trainees to provide hands-on support to patients and clients in hospitals, homes, and other healthcare institutions.

The programme equips learners with practical skills to assist in basic patient care, promote comfort, and support the work of healthcare professionals.

The engagement reflects KMTC’s renewed efforts to expand international partnerships that enhance training while opening employment pathways for graduates in the global health workforce.
