Four people have been injured after two drones fell near Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The incident caused minor to moderate injuries but did not disrupt air traffic.
According to the Dubai Media Office, two drones fell in the vicinity of DXB earlier in the day. The statement, issued at 11:38 a.m., confirmed that flights continued without disruption and airport operations remained unaffected.
Among the injured were two Ghanaians and a Bangladeshi who sustained minor injuries, while an Indian national suffered moderate injuries. Medical teams responded promptly and the Indian national was treated at a local hospital.
Officials clarified that aircraft bound for Dubai were placed temporarily in holding patterns over Oman but landed safely once cleared.
“Flights are operating as normal despite the incident.” Authorities said.
Dubai International Airport quickly cleared the affected areas, ensuring no significant delays or cancellations occurred. Passengers traveling through the airport were largely unaffected by the incident. Airport staff coordinated with emergency services to maintain safety and minimize disruptions.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of drone activity in the region. Since February 28, UAE air defence systems have detected 1,475 Iranian drones, intercepting 1,385 before they reached populated areas. However, 90 drones have impacted land across the country, some causing minor damage and injuries.
Security experts suggest the surge in drone activity coincides with rising geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel in the Gulf region. Authorities continue to monitor airspace closely and have reiterated that the safety of civilians and airport operations is a top priority.
The UAE’s Civil Aviation Authority has called on residents and travellers to report any suspicious aerial activity. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact origin and intent of the drones that fell near DXB. Officials emphasized that while the incident resulted in injuries, swift response measures helped prevent any serious harm.

Medical personnel treated the injured on-site, and all four individuals are reportedly in stable condition. Emergency teams remain on standby at critical airport locations to handle any future incidents.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation to identify the operators behind the drones and prevent similar events. Enhanced airspace monitoring, coordination with regional security agencies, and stricter drone regulation are expected in the coming weeks. Travelers are advised to check flight updates regularly, though officials say all safety measures are in place to maintain smooth operations at Dubai International Airport.
