The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has shortlisted candidates who applied for temporary positions under the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) programme.

The Commission announced on March 12 through its official social media pages that shortlisted applicants have already been contacted, and interviews for the roles are currently ongoing across the country. Successful candidates will be informed directly and given details on when training will begin.

The temporary positions were advertised as part of IEBC’s ongoing efforts to support the ECVR exercise, which aims to expand and update the national voter register ahead of the 2027 General Election. The recruitment drive opened thousands of vacancies for roles, including voter registration clerks and support staff, to facilitate the registration process.

Candidates have been urged to follow official IEBC communications and disregard messages from unverified sources.

“Interviews are ongoing. The Commission will communicate to the successful candidates and inform them when the training will begin,” the statement read.

IEBC Warns Against Fake Job Advertisements

In a related caution, the Commission warned the public against fraudulent job adverts circulating online. Some of these posts claim to offer IEBC vacancies but are intended to mislead job seekers or collect personal information. IEBC reiterated that legitimate vacancies are only advertised on its official social media pages and recruitment portal.

Supporting the ECVR Initiative

The ECVR programme is a key step in preparing for the upcoming elections. IEBC has set a target of increasing registered voters to at least 28.5 million, including new voters from remote and underserved areas. Civil society groups have welcomed the recruitment and urged IEBC to intensify registration drives to ensure broader participation in the democratic process.

Guidance for Applicants

Applicants are advised to monitor only IEBC’s official platforms for updates on interviews, training schedules, and job confirmations. The Commission emphasized that any instructions or job offers from unofficial sources should not be trusted.
