Kenya is joining the global community to mark World Oral Health Day 2026 on March 20, under the theme “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life.”
The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health throughout life, helping people eat properly, speak clearly, and live healthier lives.
Health experts have warned that poor oral hygiene can contribute to serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections.
They stress the importance of preventive care and regular dental check-ups for people of all ages.
Across the country, the Ministry of Health and partner organizations have organized school outreach programs, community education initiatives, and free dental services to promote oral health.
The activities target both children and adults, particularly in underserved communities, to encourage early adoption of good oral care habits.
Parents have been urged to introduce children to oral healthcare early, while the public is advised to adopt proper hygiene practices such as brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, limiting sugary foods and drinks, avoiding tobacco, and visiting dental professionals regularly.

The celebrations will culminate in an Oral Health Awareness Walk in Nairobi on March 21, starting at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Following the walk, a free medical camp will offer oral health, eye, and hearing services to members of the public, including education and screenings.
“The Ministry is also working to make oral health services more available across the country by strengthening community services, training Community Health Promoters on oral health, and improving the collection of oral health information from households and health facilities to better plan services, “the Ministry of Health said.
