Nairobi Water Announces Interruption in Several Estates

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd (NCWSCO), has announced a temporary water supply interruption across several residential and commercial areas in Nairobi after a major burst on the Kabete–Kilimani transmission pipeline.

In a statement on Saturday, March 21, Nairobi Water said the outage has affected neighbourhoods such as Kileleshwa, Kilimani, State House, Ngumo, KEMRI, Highrise, Nairobi West, Upperhill, and Madaraka, disrupting water access for many residents and businesses.

“Dear Valued Customer, This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption in your area due to a burst pipe on the major Kabete-Kilimani transmission pipeline, which occurred last night, Friday, March 20, 2026, at 01:00 am,” Nairobi Water said.

The company reported that the pipeline burst occurred early Friday, March 20, 2026, prompting a swift response from its technical teams. Crews moved quickly to isolate the damaged section and begin repairs.

Nairobi Water Repairs Ongoing

They are also conducting pressure tests and system checks to ensure the network remains stable once supply resumes.

“Our technical teams responded immediately, and repairs are ongoing to replace the damaged section, conduct pressure testing, and safely restore the system,” the Compan said.

NCWSC expects to restore normal water supply by Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

“Expected restoration: Water supply is anticipated to be fully restored by Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM. This timeline allows for thorough repairs on this critical transmission line while prioritizing safety and infrastructure integrity,” Nairobi Water added.

Meanwhile, the company has urged residents to:

  • Use any stored water sparingly and efficiently.
