Detectives have arrested three notorious robbery with violence suspects and recovered a firearm in a midnight operation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
In a statement, the DCI said the operation was executed at about 0104 hours and brought together a joint team of officers from Ngong Police Station and DCI, working in close collaboration with police officers from Mwea–Makutano Police Post.
“In a coordinated and empirical operation, law enforcement officers have dealt a decisive blow to a dangerous criminal network, culminating in the arrest of three notorious robbery with violence suspects and the recovery of a firearm,” DCI said.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the team zeroed in on the Makutano–Ngomongo area in Kirinyaga County, where the suspects had reportedly gone into hiding.
The officers successfully apprehended three individuals identified as Alex Wanjiku alias Aleko, Job Wachira Wanjohi, and Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku alias Kinyaa.
The trio is believed to be behind a recent violent robbery incident in Ngong on March 12, 2025, during which a victim was shot and seriously injured.
Police found Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku, alias Kinyaa, in possession of a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition upon his arrest, further linking him to the violent crime.

The operation further led to the recovery of a red motorcycle, registration number KMGD 970K (TVS make), which investigators believe was used as a getaway vehicle during the commission of the crime.
Additionally, the officers recovered distinctive clothing believed to have been worn by the suspects on the day of the robbery, providing crucial evidentiary support to the ongoing investigations.
The suspects are currently being held in custody at Ngong Police Station as investigations intensify, with authorities working diligently to establish whether they are linked to other criminal activities in the region.
