The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas expected to receive heavy rainfall in its five-day weather forecast for March 28 to April 1, 2026.
In its forecast published on Friday, March 28, 2026, Kenya Met outlined regions likely to experience heavy rainfall over the next five days.
According to the weatherman, rainfall is expected to continue in a few parts of the country, with isolated heavy rainfall events likely in some areas of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and Northeastern Kenya.
For the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, mornings are likely to experience rain in a few places, except on Sunday, March 30, and April 1, when sunny intervals are expected.
Afternoons will mostly be dominated by showers and thunderstorms in a few areas, while nights will experience a chance of showers.
Areas in these regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties.
In the northwestern region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, mornings will see a chance of rain in a few places.
Afternoons will mostly experience sunny intervals, except on Saturday, March 28, and Tuesday, March 31, when there will be a chance of showers. Nights will be partly cloudy, with showers expected on the same dates.

For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and its environs, mornings will be mostly cloudy, breaking into sunny intervals throughout the forecast period.
Afternoons will be dominated by a chance of showers in a few places, while nights will also experience showers, except on Sunday, March 29, and April 1, when conditions will be partly cloudy.
Other areas in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties.

In the northeastern region, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, mornings will experience rainfall in a few places throughout the forecast period.
Afternoons will also see showers in some areas, while nights will have a chance of showers.
For the southeastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, mornings and afternoons will be dominated by sunny intervals, while nights will remain partly cloudy.
Coast
In the coastal region, covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta, Kenya Met predicts that mornings will experience a chance of showers in a few places.
Afternoons will be mostly sunny, while nights will remain partly cloudy throughout the forecast period.
