The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has released its weather forecast for the first week of April 2026, covering the period from March 31 to April 6.
The forecast highlights areas expected to receive rainfall, as well as temperature variations across the country.
According to KMD, rainfall will continue in several parts of Kenya, with isolated heavy rainfall events expected in regions of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and northeastern Kenya.
In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, mornings will experience rain in a few areas, except on Sunday, April 1, when sunny intervals are expected.
Afternoons are likely to experience showers and thunderstorms in select areas, while nights may see occasional showers.
Counties affected include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

In Turkana and Samburu counties, mornings will have a chance of rain in a few areas.
Afternoons will generally have sunny intervals, except on Tuesday, March 31, when showers may occur.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, with showers possible on the same date.
Mornings in this region will be mostly cloudy, gradually breaking into sunny intervals throughout the week.
Afternoon showers are expected in some areas, while nights will also experience occasional showers, except on Sunday, April 1, when conditions will be partly cloudy.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi.
Northeastern Region
For Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, mornings are expected to experience rainfall in a few areas throughout the forecast period.
Afternoons and nights will also see showers in select areas.
In Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta counties, and parts of inland Tana River County, mornings and afternoons will mostly have sunny intervals, while nights remain partly cloudy.

Coast
For the coastal region, covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale counties, and the Tana Delta, mornings may see a chance of showers in a few areas.
Afternoons will largely be sunny, with nights remaining partly cloudy throughout the period.
Daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, southeastern lowlands, and parts of northeastern and northwestern Kenya.
Cooler nights, dropping below 10°C, are likely in parts of the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
