The NYOTA Project has confirmed that the second tranche of business start-up capital, Ksh 25,000 per beneficiary, will be disbursed before the end of April 2026.
Following the completion of the second mandatory business skills classroom training across constituencies nationwide.
The additional funds will bring the total support per beneficiary to Ksh 50,000, including Ksh 3,000 set aside as savings under the Haba Haba scheme by NSSF.
However, the nationwide mentorship program, originally scheduled to end on March 31, 2026, has now been extended to April 8, 2026.
This extension allows the remaining 6% of beneficiaries who have not yet participated to complete their mentorship.
“Beneficiaries who have not engaged with their mentors are urged to contact their constituency NYOTA Project coordinators immediately,” the ministry stated.
Meanwhile, the mentorship program which began on March 4, 2026, includes site visits, business guide talks, experience-sharing moments, cross-peer mentorship, and networking sessions.
So far, 94% of beneficiaries who received the first tranche of start-up capital have completed mentorship, while 98% have already started their businesses. The remaining 2% are in the process of starting.
Data from the mentorship program shows that 65% of mentees are first-time entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, 19% have less than one year of business experience, 13% have between one and three years, and only 3% have been in business for more than three years.
In terms of gender, the distribution shows near parity: 51% are female and 49% are male beneficiaries.
