Naiyanoi’s appointment comes days after she withdrew her candidature for the Emurua Dikirr seat, where she had been among the top contenders to succeed her husband.

According to family spokesperson David Ngetich, the decision followed consultations within the family. He said the move was informed by personal and health reasons, noting that Naiyanoi has been unwell and is still recovering emotionally from the sudden loss of her husband.

President William Ruto and his administration, during the funeral service in Emurua Dikirr on March 6, 2026, pledged to support the family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno through government appointments and financial aid.
The appointment of Naiyanoi Ntutu to the ICTA board is seen as a direct fulfilment of this pledge.
