The war between United States, Israel, and Iran began in February 2026 and has affected key areas, such as the Strait of Hormuz. As of April 6 2026, it is in its sixth week as plans for ceasefire are being reported.
In response to the U.S. Iranian officials said the United States is not ready for a ceasefire even as new diplomatic efforts emerge to end the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
On the other hand, state media also confirmed the death of the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to a source cited by Reuters, both Washington and Tehran have received a two tier proposal which is aimed at stopping hostilities.
The plan, which was reportedly transmitted through Pakistan, indicates an immediate ceasefire to be agreed upon as soon as possible, followed by negotiations toward a more permanent agreement.
Pakistan is said to be acting as a key communication channel between the two sides at a time when direct engagement remains limited.

However, Iranian officials responded by indicating that the United States had not yet demonstrated their readiness for a ceasefire under the current conditions.
The diplomatic developments come amid heightened tensions over the status of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway for global oil shipments.
Iranian officials have maintained that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would not automatically follow a temporary reconciliation, which signals a point in the ongoing matters.
At the same time, Iranian state media confirmed the death of Majid Khademi, the head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
While the announcement confirmed his death, details surrounding the circumstances were not immediately provided. His killing follows a series of reported strikes targeting senior Iranian military and intelligence officials during the escalating confrontation.

U.S. President Donald Trump
Meanwhile, tensions were further escalated after remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump over the weekend, warning that the United States could target Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.
Iranian officials allegedly responded by insisting the strait “will never return” to its previous condition under such pressure.
Moreover, reports also emerged about the recovery of a pilot from a downed U.S. F-15 fighter jet during the ongoing war, with intelligence-linked efforts said to have played a role in the rescue operation.
Iranian military sources also allegedly claimed that several U.S. aircraft were hit during the incident, though these claims have not been verified independently.
Mediators in the region continue to engage in diplomatic matters as both sides weigh the ceasefire proposal, with observers noting that the coming days could be critical in determining whether the tensions move toward de-escalation or further continuation of the war.
