KUCCPS Bags Multiple Awards as CEO Earns National Recognition

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has emerged among top public institutions after winning multiple honours at the Internal Audit and Risk Awards 2026 held in Nairobi.

The organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Agnes Mercy Wahome, was named 1st Runner-Up in the Chief Executive Officer of the Year category. The recognition reflects her performance in strengthening governance and risk management within the agency.

The organisation also secured two additional awards. It finished 2nd Runners-Up in the Internal Audit Function of the Year, Non-Regulatory Agencies category.

It also took 2nd Runner-Up in the Audit Committee of the Year category under Other State Corporations.

Institute of Internal Auditors Leads Recognition

The awards were organised by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

“Chief Executive Officers, Internal Audit Executives, Audit Committees, Internal Audit Functions and Corporate Entities in public and private sectors that uphold high standards of internal audit and risk management,” the body recognised.

Strong Focus on Governance and Accountability

KUCCPS credited the recognition to improved internal systems. The agency has strengthened transparency in its placement processes. It has also enhanced audit responsiveness and coordination between management and oversight committees.

The awards come as public institutions face increased pressure to improve efficiency and accountability. KUCCPS plays a key role in placing students into universities and colleges across the country. This responsibility demands strong systems and public trust.

Confidence in KUCCPS Systems Grows

Stakeholders at the event said the awards reflect growing confidence in KUCCPS governance and risk management systems.

“The institution continues to improve compliance and operational oversight,” they also noted.

The ceremony brought together organisations from both public and private sectors. KUCCPS stood out after securing three recognitions in different categories.

The recognition comes at a time when KUCCPS continues to strengthen its internal controls and improve efficiency in its placement operations.
