A senior officer at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been released on a Ksh 1.5 million cash bail after being in court for the case of the alleged murder of his wife in Roysambu, Nairobi.
Daniel Mburu Macharia is accused of killing his wife, Florence Nyagah, whose body was discovered inside their house at Faith Flats along Lumumba Drive on March 1, 2026, under circumstances police describe as suspicious and violent.
According to investigations, Nyagah was found lying in a pool of blood in their living room with visible injuries that are believed to have been inflicted during a struggle.
Detectives told the court that a blood-stained knife suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered hidden in the kitchen during crime scene processing.
According to court documents, the dispute between the couple was allegedly reported to the deceased’s daughter and sister.
A post-mortem conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital confirmed that the 43-year-old died from stab wounds, which were allegedly inflicted by a sharp object.
Police told the court the officer was the last person seen with the deceased before her death, which is believed to have occurred between February 27 and March 1, 2026.

The body was later discovered inside the house by family members after repeated attempts to reach her through her phone failed.

In the latest development, the High Court granted him Ksh 1.5 million cash bail with conditions that bar him from interfering with witnesses or leaving the court’s jurisdiction without permission as the murder case continues taking place.
The case continues to attract public attention because of Macharia’s senior position within the DCI, with the court expected to hear further evidence as the trial continues.
