The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas likely to receive heavy rainfall in its latest forecast published on Monday, April 20, 2026.
In its seven-day weather forecast for April 21 to April 27, 2026, Kenya Met indicated that rainfall is expected to continue in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Coast, and Northeastern Kenya.
Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely to occur in some parts of these regions.
According to the weatherman, daytime (maximum) average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in the Coast, the Southeastern lowlands, Northeastern, and Northwestern Kenya.
Night-time (minimum) average temperatures are expected to fall below 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, morning rain is likely in a few places.
Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected in a few areas, with occasional spread to several places.
Counties in these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.
In Northwestern Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, morning rains and night showers may occur in a few places.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi and its environs, mornings are likely to be cloudy with occasional rain in a few areas, giving way to sunny intervals.
Afternoon and night showers are expected in a few places and may occasionally spread to several areas.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi.

In Northeastern Kenya, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, morning rains, as well as afternoon and night showers, are likely to occur in a few places.
The Southeastern lowlands, comprising Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, will experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
However, morning rains and afternoon and night showers may occasionally occur in a few areas, occasionally spreading to several places.
In the Coast region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta, morning, afternoon, and night showers are likely to occur in a few places, spreading to several places.
