Evans Kimori Speaks Out on Missing Public Donation Meant for Brian Odhiambo’s Family

Share

The family of the late Brian Odhiambo has raised concerns over funds that were reportedly collected during a public fundraising event held in Nakuru under the “Linda Mwananchi” initiative on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

According to the family, the money raised during the event was not fully delivered to them, despite contributions from several political leaders and members of the public.

Brian Odhiambo’s mother said she was only given a fraction of what she expected, raising questions about how the donations were handled after the event.

“We were told the total amount collected was around Ksh 110,000, but I only received about Ksh 60,000. The rest has not reached us,” she said.

Family Says Only Part of Raised Funds Reached Them

The fundraiser was reportedly attended and supported by several leaders, including contributions attributed to political figures such as Babu Owino and James Orengo, among others.

“I was informed that different leaders contributed, but what reached me was not the full amount that was announced,” the family added.

Concerns have also been raised over the handling of the remaining funds, with claims that part of the money was to be delivered later to Brian Odhiambo’s widow.

However, the family says they have not received any further communication or transfers.

Evans Kimori Responds, Promises to Settle Matter

Evans Kimori has responded to the allegations, saying he is personally travelling to Nakuru to resolve the matter and ensure the family receives their money.

“I’m on the way to Nakuru. I’m heading to meet Mama Brian Odhiambo and I’m going to meet the wife of Brian Odhiambo,” Kimori said.

“I had travelled outside Nakuru to oversee a project that I’m overseeing somewhere, which I don’t want to mention, but I’m having a long journey to clear all this.”

Kimori further stated that he had already taken action against individuals he believes mishandled the funds.

“Mama Brian must get her money and the people who took the money I’m still looking for them. But as we are speaking, I’ve fired them all.”

He added that he had travelled a long distance to address the situation.

“So, even if you look at my eyes, I haven’t slept, I’ve travelled far. I’ve covered 500km as of now. So, I’m on my way and all will be settled by 4 pm. That’s it.”

Missing Funds Spark Accountability Calls

However, the family insists that the lack of clarity has left them in distress and uncertainty, especially as the funds were intended to support Brian Odhiambo’s dependents.

Several contributors at the event reportedly raised close to Ksh 500,000, though the exact total remains disputed by different parties present at the fundraiser.

The controversy has sparked public calls for transparency and accountability in how community fundraising events are managed, especially those involving bereaved families.

As questions continue to mount, the family is now demanding a clear breakdown of the funds raised and distributed during the Nakuru event.
