Gachagua’s DCP Party Sets Ksh 250,000 Fee for Ol Kalou Election

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has opened the floor for candidates seeking the party ticket for the July 16, 2026, Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

Through a public notice dated April 26, the party called upon interested, eligible candidates to submit their applications for nominations for the seat of Member of the National Assembly for the Ol Kalou Constituency.

Authorities stated they would use the by-election to fill the vacant seat in Nyandarua County.

DCP Nomination Fee

Nomination fees for Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) are Ksh 250,000 for ordinary applicants and Ksh 125,000 for youth and persons with disability.

Applicants must fill in and submit their application forms with mandatory supporting documents, including proof of payment.

The forms can be obtained from the party headquarters, and the deadline for submitting completed forms is May 2, 2026.

The National Elections Board chair, Wanjiru Kago, urged candidates to submit their forms on time as the party intended to conduct a fair and competitive nomination process.

The party requires fees to be paid into their Equity Bank account, which is under the name Democracy for the Citizens Party.

Ol Kalou Constituency By-Election Date

In other news, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has published the official date for the by-election.

In its public notice, the IEBC stated that polling day is Thursday, July 16, 2026, and voting will proceed between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Across the constituency.

Voters are to elect a Member of the National Assembly for the vacant Ol Kalou Constituency, which has led to the mini poll.

The commission has gazetted the election notice, with the voters required to check their registration status and advised parties and candidates to strictly adhere to the election laws during the campaign.
