Two Kenyans are among 14 people who died after a light aircraft crashed near Juba, South Sudan, authorities have confirmed.
In a statement issued on April 27, 2026, the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority said the aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan operated by CityLink Aviation Ltd, went down approximately 20 kilometres southwest of Juba.
According to the Authority, the plane had departed Yei at 9:15 a.m. en route to Juba International Airport but lost communication at around 9:43 a.m.
“There were 13 passengers and one pilot on board, including two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese nationals. Unfortunately, there were no survivors,” the SSCAA said in its official press release.

Preliminary findings suggest the crash may have been caused by adverse weather conditions, particularly low visibility at the time of the incident.
“The SSCAA response team has been dispatched to the site to gather information and support emergency and recovery efforts,” the Authority added.

The aviation regulator extended its condolences to the families of the victims, saying, “The Authority extends its deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those affected by this tragic incident.”
Investigations into the crash are ongoing, with more details expected once authorities verify additional information.
