Police in Mombasa County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 22 year old woman whose decomposing body was found inside a house in Likoni Sub County.
According to police reports, the incident was discovered on the night of April 25, 2026.
This is after residents raised concern over a persistent bad smell coming from one of the rooms in a Swahili style house.
Officers who responded to the scene found the room locked from the outside.
Body Found In A Room
This raised suspicion before they forced entry into the house.
Upon being able to enter the room, officers discovered the lifeless body of a woman, identified as Fedelis Chepchumba.

The late Fidelis was lying on a bed in a partially decomposed state.
Findings
Preliminary findings indicate that she had sustained an injury on the left side of her face.
These injuries are suspected to have been caused by a blunt object.
Investigators say early inquiries have linked the residence to the deceased’s boyfriend.
The boyfriend to the deceased is reported to be the tenant of the house his late girlfriend was found dead inside.
The man is said to be employed at a local bakery within Likoni.

He was last seen on April 22, 2026, days before the body was discovered in his house.
Crime scene personnel processed the area and documented key evidence to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The body was later moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, where a post mortem examination is expected to be done in order to establish the exact cause of death.
Police Launched A Manhunt
Police have therefore launched a manhunt for the boyfriend, who is currently being treated as the main suspect in the case.

Police say efforts are ongoing to trace his whereabouts and find out what happened to the deceased.
The incident has raised concern among residents in the area, with police urging members of the public to share any information that may assist in the investigation.
