Vincent Rotich is a Kenyan politician and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election in Narok County.

He is widely known for his grassroots leadership, experience as a local administrator, and active involvement in community politics.

Rotich began his public service career as the Chief of the Mogondo Location.

He resigned in 2017 at the age of 28 to join active politics.

Residents describe him as a bold and outspoken leader during his time in administration.

According to local accounts, he was once involved in a confrontation with a District Commissioner over alleged oppression, where he protested strongly in defense of the community.

Vincent Rotich Entry Into Electoral Politics

After leaving public service, Rotich entered elective politics.

He first contested for the Mogondo Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat under the CCM Party.

He won the seat and served as MCA, gaining popularity for his close connection with residents and active participation in local development issues.

In the 2022 elections, he defended his seat on a CCM ticket. However, he lost during a strong United Democratic Alliance (UDA) wave that swept across many parts of the Rift Valley.

Age and Current Political Position

Vincent Kibet Rotich is currently 37 years old.

He is now contesting the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat under the DCP Party, positioning himself as a new-generation leader with deep community roots.

DCP Nomination and Gachagua Endorsement

Rotich received a major political boost after being endorsed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the DCP flag bearer for Emurua Dikirr.

Gachagua praised him as a capable leader during the nomination announcement.

“I wholeheartedly accept your candidate, an inspiring, young, and ambitious leader dedicated to serving the people, Vincent Kibet Rotich as the DCP Party flag bearer.”

Gachagua further linked Rotich’s candidature to the legacy of the late MP Johanna Ng’eno, saying,“If there is ever a great opportunity that the late  Johanna Ng’eno would have wished for in his lifetime, it is the choice of Rotich.”

The endorsement followed consultations with local leaders and residents, whom Gachagua praised for unity in backing a single candidate.

Campaign Message to Voters

During his campaigns, Rotich has urged voters to support his bid, arguing that opposition representation can push government accountability and development.

“When you are in opposition, the government is compelled to bring development so as to win the people’s support. That is when resources flow,”said Rotich.

He added that his experience as a former MCA and grassroots leader gives him the ability to understand and address local needs.

Rotich has also emphasized his close working relationship with the late Johanna Ng’eno, saying he understands the constituency’s priorities and long-standing challenges.
