TikTok Silently Deleted 820,000 Kenyan Videos and Banned 108,000 Accounts — Here’s Why

TikTok has revealed that it removed more than 820,000 videos in Kenya between October and December 2025 as part of efforts to strengthen safety and enforce its Community Guidelines on the platform.
According to the company’s Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on May 19, 2026, TikTok removed a total of 820,552 videos in Kenya for violating their community guidelines.
The company said 99.9% of the videos were detected and removed proactively before they were reported by any users on the platform.
TikTok further stated that 98.4% of the flagged videos in Kenya were taken down within 24 hours of being uploaded.
Accounts Banned
This highlighted what it described as improvements in its automated detection systems and moderation processes, which detect when users violate any guidelines on the platform.
The social media platform also disclosed that it banned a total of 108,752 accounts in Kenya during the same period for violating its policies.

Out of the banned accounts, 93,704 of them were suspected to belong to users below the age of 13, which is against TikTok’s rules on minimum age requirements.
Globally, TikTok said it removed 175.3 million videos during the quarter, accounting for about 0.5%of all content uploaded on the platform.
TikTok Moderation Technology
Of the removed videos, 152.5 million were detected through automated moderation technologies, while 8.3 million videos were later reinstated after further review.
TikTok reported a global proactive removal rate of 99.1%, with 93.4% of violating content taken down within 24 hours of posting.
TikTok said it continues to rely on a combination of automated moderation systems and teams of trust and safety professionals to identify and remove harmful content, including misinformation, hate speech, and other policy violations.

The social media platform stated that the measures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain a safer online environment for all users.
