The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that it will close the Jamhuri Road for two days.
In a notice on Thursday, October 9, KURA said the road will be closed from Friday, October 10, 8:00pm.
The Authority said the closure will give room for construction of essential drainage and sewer infrastructure as part of the Talanta Sports City Project
“KURA wishes to notify the general public of the closure of Jamuhuri road from 8:00 PM on Friday, 10th October 2025 to 11.00 PM on Sunday 12th October 2025,” reads part of the notice.
“This is due to the construction of essential drainage and sewer infrastructure as part of the Talanta Sports City Project at Jamuhuri Sports Grounds.”
KURA has advised motorists to use Sanctuary Road and Kibera Drive.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during this period,” it added.

President William Ruto expressed satisfaction with the progress in the construction of the world-class Nairobi’s Talanta Sports City when he visited the facility in April 2025.
The President said 3,300 workers have been hired at the stadium, with 2,000 working during the day, while 1,300 are engaged at night in the 60,000-seater facility.
“With this pace, the Talanta Sports City, with a football pitch while outside the stadium is an athletic field and rugby training grounds, will be ready by December 2025,” he said.
