Robert Alai Accused of Assaulting Chiefs & Disrupting Kileleshwa Public Participation Exercise

A public participation meeting held in Kileleshwa Ward, Nairobi, allegedly turned chaotic after MCA Robert Alai was accused of storming the venue and confronting officials present.
The meeting, which was attended by local administrators and members of the public, was reportedly disrupted after a heated confrontation broke out.
According to accounts shared from the scene and video recordings circulating online, two Chiefs, Joyline and Kilimani Chief Catherine, were allegedly assaulted during the incident.
The chiefs had reportedly attended the meeting as part of their official duties when the confrontation escalated.
One of the victims is said to have been admitted to the hospital following the incident.
“Tuheshimiane bana, wachana na mimi… time will tell,” one of the voices is heard saying during the altercation.
Confusion and Shouting During the Confrontation in Kileleshwa
Video footage from the scene reportedly captured loud exchanges, with Alai allegedly heard instructing people to leave the venue.
“Tokeni hapa… polisi hata saidia… endeni, kwendeni,” Alai’s voice is heard shouting in the recording.
Witnesses described a tense situation where voices were raised, and participants attempted to defend themselves as the confrontation intensified.

Administrators Defend Themselves
One of the chiefs is heard questioning the confrontation during the incident.
“Who are you? Tuheshimiane bana, wachana na mimi,” she is heard saying in the video.
Another voice is heard insisting they were lawfully attending a public engagement meeting and questioning why they were being ordered to leave.
Public Concern Over Conduct in Public Meetings
The incident has sparked public debate over conduct during civic engagement forums, with many calling for investigations into what transpired and whether public officials were treated appropriately.

Earlier political tensions in Nairobi
On January 4, 2026, Robert Alai was also involved in a separate confrontation at a restaurant along the same Lenana Road area, where he reportedly had a heated exchange with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino during a meeting.
The incident also attracted public attention after claims of a verbal and physical altercation between the two.
“Without provocation, he became aggressive, pushed me, struck me on the chest and jaw, and later poured water on my face.” Said Babu Owino.
