KenGen Announces Mass Internships for Graduates Across Multiple Fields

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has announced mass internship opportunities for graduates in different professional fields.

In a notice published on its website on Tuesday, May 19 2026, the company invited qualified graduates to apply for the positions before May 22, 2026, at 11:59 pm.

The internship opportunities are available in areas such as security, accounting, law, ICT, supply chain management, economics, hydrology, engineering, environmental management, insurance, geology, geophysics, administration, community relations, human resource management, property management and communication.

Other available positions include electrical and mechanical technicians, plant operators, geochemists, geomatists and civil engineers.

According to KenGen’s website, the internship programme is open to graduates who completed their studies between 2023 and 2026.

Some of the advertised positions include Security Officer (INT/MD/01/05/2026), Accountant (INT/FIN/01/05/2026), Legal Officer (INT/CS&LS/01/05/2026), ICT Officer (INT/ICT/01/05/2026), Communication Officer (INT/CSERV/03/05/2026), Electrical Engineer (INT/OPS/01/05/2026) and Human Resource Officer (INT/COP-S/04/05/2026).

Details of Some Internship Positions Advertised by KenGen

According to the advert, the Security Officer intern will be responsible for helping protect company assets, enforcing security procedures and coordinating security-related activities. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, Criminology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

The Accountant intern will assist in financial reporting, budget control, payment processing, cash book management and handling financial records. Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related fields.

For the Communication Officer internship, successful candidates will help manage the company’s public image, coordinate corporate events, handle internal and external communication and assist in media relations.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or an equivalent qualification.

KenGen noted that successful applicants must be ready to work in any of the company’s business areas across the country.

How to Apply

Interested applicants have been advised to submit their applications through the KenGen internship recruitment portal before May 22, 2026, at 11:59 pm.

Applicants are required to first register on the online platform by providing personal details, including their first name, middle name, surname, phone number, email address, ID number, postal address and place of residence.

Candidates will also be required to indicate their gender, date of birth, country and county of birth, country of residence and citizenship details.

Under the education section, applicants must select the level they are applying for, including undergraduate, diploma or college certificate, and provide the date they graduated together with their field of study.

The application portal also requires candidates to indicate whether they are persons living with disabilities (PWDs) and provide a PWD number where applicable.

Applicants will then be required to confirm they are not robots by answering a simple verification question before accepting the terms and conditions and submitting their applications online.
