The Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has revealed the only thing that can make President William Ruto win a second term in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Monday, October 13, Wamalwa said Ruto’s hope for a second term relies heavily on the support of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the votes from the Eastern region.
Wamalwa said Ruto has lost the Mt. Kenya region after his fallout with former DP Rigathi Gachagua and is wooing Kalonzo to fill that gap.
He explained that this is the reason why Ruto’s allies like Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei constantly talk of Kalonzo joining the government.
“Ruto knows the arithmetic is not adding up. There is a gap of almost 2 million votes that the opposition is likely to beat him with. The only place he can recover after losing the Mountain is Ukambani. Every day you will hear Oscar Sudi and Cherargei saying Ruto is meeting Kalonzo,” Wamalwa said.
“There are 2 million votes out there in Ukambani. If Ruto got that today and Kalonzo joins him, it is game short. We will not lie to Kenyans, it would be a two-term automatically.”

He said there is a gap of 2 million votes that the United opposition is likely to beat Ruto with in 2027.
Wamalwa stated that Ruto is aware of the statistics and has turned to the Eastern region to boost his chances of winning a second term.
“We know the history, geography, and numbers. But someone who knows that better is Ruto. This whole week he is in Ukambani, he is going to Makueni and Kitui. In fact, the national day on the 20th is going to be in Kitui. Just watch how he is going to woo that region,” he said.

He emphasized that Ruto will lose the presidential election in 2027 if he loses the Mt. Kenya region, as well as the votes from Eastern and Western Kenya.
“If he misses the lower Eastern region and loses Malava and Western, Ruto is a one-term president,” he added.
