US President Donald Trump is close to reaching a deal with Iran that could help end the conflict between the two countries, according to reports from Iranian state media.
The reports, cited by NBC News, revealed new details of a draft agreement currently being discussed by Washington and Tehran.
According to Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency, the proposed deal includes several commitments from the United States.
These include lifting sanctions on Iran, withdrawing US forces from areas around Iran, ending the naval blockade, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian media also reported that the draft agreement calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon, as well as a US commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.

According to Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency, the United States would suspend sanctions on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports and allow Iran full access to its financial assets.
The report further claims that about $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds would be released, with half of the money made available before formal negotiations begin.
Details of the Agreement
The proposed agreement reportedly requires the maritime blockade to be lifted and the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened within 30 days under arrangements overseen by Iran.
Iranian media also claims that the two sides would hold 60 days of negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement on nuclear and economic issues.

The reports state that Iran’s missile programme and its support for resistance groups would be excluded from the negotiations.
According to the reported draft, any final agreement reached between the two countries would be submitted to the United Nations Security Council for endorsement.
Trump has repeatedly stated that any deal with Iran must ensure the country never obtains a nuclear weapon.
However, NBC News said it could not independently verify the claims made by Iranian state media, and the US government had not commented on the reported agreement at the time of publication.
The reported deal comes a day after US President Donald Trump threatened further military action against Iran, saying the United States would hit the country “very hard” on Thursday night.
Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been significantly weakened and suggested that the country’s economy had suffered major damage during the conflict.
