KRA Issues Fresh Directives Ahead of Return Filing Deadline

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced extended working hours at its service centres, selected Huduma Centres, and Contact Centre to help taxpayers file their returns before the June 30, 2026, deadline.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, June 17, KRA urged taxpayers to submit their returns early through the iTax platform and avoid last-minute rushes as the filing deadline approaches.
“The filing deadline is fast approaching, and we’re here to help,” KRA said in the notice.
KRA Extends Working Hours as June 30 Tax Filing Deadline Nears
KRA added that its service points will operate for longer hours to support taxpayers during the filing period.
According to KRA, Tax Service Offices will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. between June 17 and June 26. On the deadline day, June 30, the offices will remain open from 7:00 a.m. until midnight.
The authority also announced that Tax Service Offices will be open on Saturday, June 20, and Saturday, June 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Selected Huduma Centres across the country will also extend their operating hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, while all other Huduma Centres will continue operating between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The selected Huduma Centres include GPO, City Square, Kibra, Makadara and Eastleigh in Nairobi, as well as centres in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kericho, Eldoret, Kitale, Meru, Embu, Kiambu, Laikipia, Nyeri, Thika, Kisumu, Kakamega and Kisii.
Meanwhile, KRA’s Contact Centre will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. between June 17 and June 26. On June 27 and June 28, the centre will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., before extending operations until midnight on June 30, the final filing day.
KRA has encouraged taxpayers who need assistance to contact the authority through its Contact Centre on 0711 099 999, via email at callcentre@kra.go.ke, or through its website.
Taxpayers have also been urged by the Authority to file their returns online through the iTax portal before the June 30 deadline.
About the Tax Filing Deadline
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) sets June 30, 2026, as the deadline for filing annual income tax returns for the 2025 tax year.

All KRA PIN holders must file returns, including salaried employees, business owners, landlords, self-employed individuals, and those with no income (Nil Returns).
Companies with a December financial year-end are also required to file their annual corporation tax returns by the same date.
Taxpayers who miss the deadline risk a penalty of KSh 2,000 or 5% of the tax due, whichever is higher, plus additional charges on unpaid taxes.
